The city of Montreal is known for many things, including its unique culture, but for the past few years also as a pillar in artificial intelligence development. Earlier this year, Mila — the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms — opened its offices in the Mile-Ex. As the epicenter of experts from McGill University and Université de Montréal, backed by HEC Montréal and Polytechnique, more than 700 people will gather under the same roof to advance research. Montreal’s leading authority in the field, Yoshua Bengio, is a co-founder and scientific director of the organization, as well as a co-founder of the prolific start-up Element AI. Optimistic and forward-looking about the future of Mila, the people who work there and the science itself, Bengio notes that this new location is "a place where we will not only be able to work, but to pursue a passion."
For its part, Worximity is also in contact with Mila about developing a new Smart Factory suite that will include artificial intelligence. Our pilot project, recently launched with one of our early-adopter customers, aims to develop an algorithm that will predict ideal factors (production hours, required raw material quantity, production speed, etc.) to obtain better production yield, based on analysis of historical data captured by our smart sensors.
The outlook is very promising for the future of artificial intelligence in Montreal, and you can count on us to keep an eye on these technological advances and to pass the benefits along to your plants!
