Baking Industry 4.0 : Bagel

Based out of New Jersey, Original Bagel was founded in 1995 as a fresh bagel company initially supplying to local bagel shops, donut stores and delis in Rhode Island. Over the past two decades, they have been dedicated to creating the best scratch baking operations, cold storage and offices under one roof. Paired with a particular focus on quality control, it has allowed the bagel makers to sell over two million of their goodies weekly in all major channels of distribution.

" We continually invest in modern equipment and processes to help ensure the best quality for our customers. We have a history of re-investing our profits year after year."

The Beginning of a New Journey

True to their innovation philosophy, the Original Bagel Company took their first steps into the Industry 4.0 and began a new chapter six month ago when they opted for the implementation of Worximity's technology. TileConnect sensors have been installed on two production lines, consisting of ABI LTD's 4-Lane Bagel System. In terms of our TileBoard software, the company selected the second level of our Smart Factory Analytics to track their production ouputs. This allows for an overall improvement of factory productivity by monitoring downtime causes and availability.

Becoming a smart factory most definitely comes with performance gains. Wondering what kind of results have been seen since this technology has been put into practice? Firstly, with the chosen monitoring methods, the Original Bagel Company increased their availability by over 6 percent. Secondly, they were able to raise their production rate by over 20 percent over the past few months.
