7 tips to boost a meat producer's efficiency

Based on research and hands-on experience with our customers, our Customer Success team recently put together a list of seven tips to help meat producers boost their efficiency rate.

1. RETHINK PRODUCT FORMATS

Find a product type that can complement another format. For instance, a plant making filet mignon steaks could use the unwanted filet ends to make meat cubes.

2. WORK HAND IN HAND WITH THE CONSUMER

By better understanding their needs, you will be able to produce exactly the right quantities of the desired product. You will also cut losses caused by unsold products.

3. USE LEFTOVERS

Use leftovers to make by-products such as soups, sauces and other items, or as flavoring agents.

4. DEPLOY NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Software can help you increase the efficiency of your production lines, but will also give you better product traceability and ensure food safety.

5. MONETIZE SURPLUS

Use technologies such as planning optimization systems that quickly surface business opportunities for surplus meat and products.

6. OPTIMIZE CHANGEOVERS

Optimize product changeovers to improve yields and production line efficiency. Make sure your equipment is fully modular and that operations are simplified as much as possible.

7. USE COMPUTER SYSTEMS

Use a computer system connected to the scales so you can hit weight targets with the best possible accuracy. Overages should be avoided, and so should shortages.
