The link between new technologies and jobs is positive

LaPresse+ shares the conclusions of a Fraser Institute report published in this morning's edition.

Economist Pierre Fortin predicts there will be more new jobs than jobs destroyed, and that automation will let employees spend their time on more human, more rewarding tasks.

"I see no reason why it would be any different with AI," he says. "New technologies make economies more efficient and productive, raising quality of life. People are wealthier, so they can buy more goods and services, which drives more demand for labor" — Steven Globerman, Fraser Institute economist.

The article closes on the importance of continuous training within companies to effectively prepare for this shift to Industry 4.0. Over the past year, Worximity has developed a series of training programs for innovative manufacturers and their employees. A handful of Quebec companies and U.S. companies are already reaping the rewards of this training, which focuses on adapting to change.
