The world of wireless smart devices for individuals has become ubiquitous and with that has also come the rise of the Industrial Internet of Things in factory settings. Consider how wireless sensor systems in the food and beverage industry can help with the monitoring of Overall Equipment Effectiveness.

In the article, "Improve Manufacturing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) with IIoT," Ray Almgren, Chief Marketing Officer at Swift Sensors outlines the use of IIoT and of "wireless sensors and intelligent machines that collect data and integrate analytics into the operational processes and systems in an industrial setting."

Almgren describes low-cost wireless systems that use cloud-based storage and analytics that, "make insights into overall equipment effectiveness and proactive machine maintenance more accessible than ever before." He says, "the scalability of wireless systems reduces the costs of measurement by a factor of 10."

The solutions that IIoT bring forward enable a break from traditional methods of evaluation in factories. IIoT systems can help users dive deeply into qualitative data collected and can help to "monitor previously inaccessible thresholds, be deployed quickly and efficiently."
