Interpack: Where the Baking Industry Meets Industry 4.0

The most recent edition of international trade show on packaging and processing, Interpack, held in Düsseldorf, Germany, set the bar high once again. The bakery sector did not go unnoticed with more than 400 companies from all over the word taking part in the event. With equipment, systems and processes touching upon every aspect of the business, it is safe to say that the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 were at the epicentre of these innovations. No matter the area of expertise of the companies that were present, none would argue that Industry 4.0 is amongst the key factors in helping entreprises reach peak efficiency.

Aside from the shift to the 4th Industrial Revolution, sustainability remained an important theme of the event. Exhibitors proposed improved resources efficiency through materials used and manufacturing processes. The increasingly important issue of food waste was also tackled by the packaging industry, proposing innovating ways to reduce food losses and waste.

Find out more about how companies benefited from their presence at Interpack, digital advancements in the baking industry and how companies like Bosch and Bühler undertook the shift to Industry 4.0, click here.
